Artificial insemination (AI) and heat detection

Know Optimal Insemination - Anytime, Anywhere

NETHERLANDS - Nedap Agri is launching a new heat detection system in the Lactivator product line - the Lactivator RealTime. What is special about this system is that it delivers up-to-date information on a cow’s optimal insemination time at any time and anywhere.

Now dairy farmers will no longer be tied to specific times and places such as the milking parlour or the feed station to detect cows in heat. Heats can now be monitored anywhere on the farm, 24/7. Because this new system can detect heat over long distances - anything up to 50 metres from the antenna.

Lactivator RealTime

The Lactivator RealTime detects cows on heat continuously over long distances, enabling farmers to respond even more quickly and more accurately to each cow in heat. The system provides up-to-date information about the optimal insemination time at any time of day, every day. No matter what time of day or night, and no matter where the cows happen to be. The result: better fertility parameters. In a nutshell, with the Lactivator RealTime farmers can achieve shorter calving intervals, lower insemination costs and more calves. A major step forward in terms of efficiency on the dairy farm.

Monitoring over long distances offers an additional advantage for dairy farmers using milking robots. Now they no longer have to rely on their cows visiting the milking robot; they always have the latest information at their fingertips, making it almost impossible to miss a heat. The Lactivator RealTime also helps farmers who want to be able to keep an eye on their young stock in other farm buildings.

New reduced activity function

Nedap Lactivator detects cows in heat with 90 per cent reliability. It also picks up on expressions of heat that are difficult to spot or not immediately visible. But besides introducing a whole new heat detection system, the Lactivator also features a new application: the reduced activity monitor. This function has been added to help pinpoint any health problems.

Nedap Lactivator

The Nedap Lactivator was launched in 2006 and has since become one of the top heat detection systems in the world. About two million Lactivators are in use worldwide. Using the Lactivator has been shown to deliver reduced calving intervals and improved fertility results: less time between calvings, better pregnancy results with fewer inseminations.

The Nedap Lactivator system is also very easy to use. It also features mobile connectivity, enabling it to be used with devices like smartphones and tablet PCs.
