Al Murooj Dairy Signs Agreement to Boost Production

OMAN - Oman’s Al Murooj Dairy Company signed an agreement with Indian Dairy Machinery Company (IDMC) on Sunday in Salalah to boost dairy production in Dhofar by undertaking a cooperative dairy programme wherein milk will be collected from cattle farmers and in turn marketed as a final product by the company.

With this project, Oman is preparing for a white revolution similar to Operation Flood in India that transformed the country from a milk-deficient nation into the world’s largest milk producer.

The agreement was signed in the presence of H E Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Musallam bin Said Qatan, chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Murooj Dairy, with IDMC officials.

The agreement also provides for the supply of technology and laboratory instruments to test the quality of milk before it is received from cattle farmers.
